Through a series of portraits, this documentary tells the story of four French women, who all have been excised.
Fatou, 27 years old, of Senegalese and Malian extraction, excised in Beauvais.
Khady, 46 years old, excised when she was seven, then married off by force at the age of 15 with an African living in France. Her husband had his three daughters excised in France.
Maïmouna, 29 years old, born in France from Senegalese parents, was excised then married off by force in France at the age of 16.
Oumou, 37 years old, of Malian extraction, excised and married off by force, mother of two little girls, is ready to do anything to stop the tradition.
These four French women have African origins. Born in France or abroad, they embody the struggle that might help other women isolated in their grief and not knowing who to turn towards. We chose them for their courage, their strength, their will, their uniqueness. Their example is worth our respect and is a light of hope for others. And even if tears did not dry up yet, these women are no longer victims.
