Magritte: The Betrayal of Images
On the occasion of the major retrospective organized at the Centre Pompidou in the fall of 2016, this film delves into Magritte's work to understand how, starting from sometimes very simple symbols, the Belgian painter constructed a vast system of symbols—a pictorial language that extends far beyond the "surrealist" label often attached to him. It offers the keys to understanding one of the most popular painters of the 20th century.

Press coverage
Disregarding a chronological approach, Didier Ottinger and Sylvain Bergère take a more adventurous—and more satisfying—route in their documentary than many other portrayals of artists. They showcase the quest for truth of a man for whom truth resided precisely in mystery, using the words of Magritte himself and some of his works.
