Born in Deir Yassin
The film tells the story of Deir Yassin, an Arab village conquered after a highly controversial battle in 1948, and later transformed into a government-run psychiatric hospital in 1951. Today, access to Deir Yassin and to the photographs archived by the Israeli Defense Forces is restricted. It remains a stain on Israel's past that no one likes to discuss. The film presents the Israeli perspective on the history of Deir Yassin, which resulted in a massive exodus of Arab residents and is considered the beginning of the Palestinian refugee problem.
